Sailing is a wonderful activity - being transported by the
natural force of the wind. Dinghy sailing has been there since
the age of 7 when it started with a hair raising sail across
the Medway estuary in an wooden enterprise with cotton sails!
Since then, dinghy sailing has been carried out in a cadet,
wayfarer, lark, bosun, topper, GP14 and laser. Currently Ullswater
calls for single-handed laser sailing as the opportunity arises.
Yacht sailing has involved a number of trips across the channel
in Royal Naval yachts, sailing on the Norfolk Broads, sailing
off the west coast of Wales and Scotland and very recently
in the Ionian Sea off Lefkas.
Radio controlled yachting provides a peaceful activity beside
water; the J13 America's Cup model is shown on Semer Water
in Yorkshire at twilight. A two channel model allowing control
of the rudder and sail sheets (linked together), it is an
easy to sail model that looks rather good!
